Polecam was founded in 1998 by Steffan Hewitt, BSc(hons) Metallurgy & Material Science.

Steffan's background includes a spell as an apprentice cameraman/editor for FM Television covering all forms of motorsport and then as a freelance extreme sports cameraman including helicopters, motorbike filming, steadicam and skiing on the Snowboard world tour for 4 years.

It was while on the Windsurfing World Tour that Steffan created his very first Polecam....

While directing a series of windsurfing kit commercials in Hawaii, he needed to obtain close wide-angle front sequences of a windsurfer in action, shot from a tracking boat or jet ski. Steffan improvised a rig comprising a miniature camera on a carbon-fibre windsurfing mast. Returning to Britain, he developed a lightweight go-anywhere rig with a remote joystick controlling a high-precision pan and tilt head. Polecam is now supplied in full HD with a range of options including 3D, Underwater and D-SLR all with precision engineered remote controlled pan/tilt heads.

Jeremy Curtis Sales and Marketing Manager Translates Steffan's ideas into sales and marketing reality, looks after the UK sales channel, the International distributors, PR and general marketing stuff.		Alix Francis Sales and Marketing assistant Our design guru who turns our collective thoughts into web and print output, manages the website, runs our newsletter and email communications.
Michael Hoeben Accounts/Import & Export Clerk Runs our Sage stuff, manages all the goods in and out, controls stock movements and generally sorts all the admin nonsense.		John Fish Engineering Manager Fish by name, Fish by nature! John runs the department that designs, builds and services the stuff we sell and supports the best team in the land..
