Following a buoyant Cine Gear Expo in Hollywood early June, the Polecam team headed for Singapore to demonstrate its range of compact HD/SD production equipment at Broadcast Asia.

"The Singapore show coincided with first shipments of Polecam Starter Pack," comments Sales and Marketing Manager Jeremy Curtis. "As in Hollywood, this new entry-level system generated a great deal of positive interest not least for the ability to accommodate a D-SLR camera or compact solid-state camcorder at the front end.

"Existing users of Polecam rigs were excited by the door which Starter Pack opens into multi-jib operation. They were additionally impressed by the potential to enhance Starter Pack from its standard 12 foot reach into an ultra-long 26 foot version as their production activity develops.

"Our new GoalCam/StadiumCam sportscasting system also attracted a great deal of interest. This is practically unique in allowing an entire football match or comparable game to be televised with extreme efficiency. A GoalCam mounted at the rear corner of each net plus one or more StadiumCams delivering ultra-wide-angle views of the arena and terraces perfectly complement the video output from a traditional Polecam jib.

"GoalCam and StadiumCam conform to the Polecam philosophy of allowing fast setup and dismantling. All our products are designed to satisfy the exacting demands of modern health and safety regulations. Adding in the feed from one tripod-mounted long-range zoom camera allows an entire sports match to be televised by a crew of just two or three people.

"Broadcast Asia itself was very busy from its opening on Tuesday 21 June right through to its Thursday close. This reflects the worldwide upsurge in demand for high-definition television content at a time when broadcasters in many countries are introducing new 1080i channels."
