Polecam last week were excited to contribute to a collaboration with Panasonic, in shooting a recording session for the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Carrack, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the world famous Abbey Road recording studio in London.

"We removed the tail section of the Polecam and used the backpack to house the electronics. We built an arm harness that allows the pole to telescope in or out through a sleave in the harness. Our monitor was a pair of video goggles that were mounted with velcro to the brim of a ball cap. The mobility of that rig was awesome!"

The DiveBag was obviously used for the swim section but stayed on for the cycling due to bad weather.

I was hired by ACS France to operate their HD Polecam rig for the Host Broadcaster (TVE Spain) on the road course for the European Athletics Championship in Barcelona.

The rig was equipped with the Toshiba HD1 supplying footage out of the CCU into a Lynx Technik AG Yellobrik HD-SDI to Fibre converter back to the OB truck. A Polecam RCP Mk3 was used to engineer the output of the camera with the data being sent up a standard XLR multicore.

29th July to 1st Aug

Los Angeles hosted the X Games 16 and ESPN as usual were covering the event. The X Games is one the largest operations that ESPN produce and this year was the first time it was transmitted live in 3D on their new channel ESPN 3D. John Gillan was asked to supply 2 Polecam systems for the Games and one was required to shoot in 3D at the top of the Big Air ramp.
